8 Steps To Get More Confidence

  1. For a lot of people in society today confidence is a big component that is missing, it could be body confidence, confidence speaking, confidence asking out the cute girl at the coffee shop and anything in between, and we want to share with you 8 steps to get more confidence!
  1. Step out of your comfort zone

One of the biggest keys to more confidence is to step out your comfort zone and do things that you normally wouldn’t do. When you push yourself to do something new, you feel proud afterwards because you actually managed that situation quite well. This builds confidence. Whether it’s meeting a new crowd of people, trying out a new sport or traveling to a totally new destination, you will always feel great afterward and full of confidence for trying something new out.

  1. Face your fear

Confidence is a funny thing. You go out and do the thing you’re most terrified of, and the confidence comes afterwards. ~ Christopher Kaminski

Stepping out of your comfort zone is the first step, but if you really want to build confidence you might want to try facing your biggest fears. Sometimes the things we fear the most are the things we really need to do for ourselves. There is no better feeling than being able to overcome your own fear. When you push yourself to your limits and get over fears you once had, you can’t help but feel more confident. You did something you were really scared of and you managed to get through it. This is a massive confidence boost, because you will feel like you can do anything! In the end it’s usually the fear itself that is the biggest obstacle, not the actual things you fear.

  1. Learn to receive praise

Receiving praise is something most people are pretty bad at. They just struggle to believe in others when they say that you look great or did something good. A good way to earn more confidence is to really take in the praise that you get and believe in it. When people give you praise, you’ve probably earned it so take it all in and enjoy the moment. Appreciate the fact that others are appreciating you and let it build your confidence.

  1. Create a ‘great list’ with stuff you’re great at!

Another good way to build confidence is to create a list with stuff you’re great at. It’s all too common to focus on your shortcomings. When you take the time to write a list with stuff you’re great at, you will realize how many things you actually do really well. This might feel strange in the beginning, however you will slowly build confidence as you name one thing after the other that you’re great at. Keep this list so that you can view it whenever you need a little confidence boost.

  1. Confidence mantras

A good way to start your day is to say some confidence mantras to yourself. Mantras are simply sentences that you repeat to yourself. When you repeat mantras about confidence and power, you start to actually feel confident and powerful. We are all too good at judging and talking negatively at ourselves. Positive mantras are a great way of building up a habit of talking more positively to ourselves.

You can find a list with good confidence mantras below.

  1. Set a small goal and achieve it

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. ~ Dale Carnegie

Never underestimate the power of achieving small things. It’s way easier to achieve a small goal in a timely manner, than a really big one. When you achieve your goals, whether small or big, it builds confidence because you managed to do something you said you would do. If you only focus on the bigger goals in life that might take years to achieve, you will always have a feeling of lack. However, if you learn to appreciate the smaller goals as well, you will build your confidence levels in no time.

  1. Change a small bad habit

Changing a small habit will do the same for you as achieving a small goal. If there is a habit you want to change, start small. If you want to become super fit, a great way to start can be to push yourself to exercise 3 times a week. You don’t have to change your whole lifestyle straight away. When you manage to change a small habit, you gain confidence and you start to believe that you can actually change worse habits as well. Take everything step by step and slowly build confidence to overcome your bad habits.

  1. Change your body language and image

Stand up tall, speak up and smile. These are all great ways to both feel and seem more confident. Do this even though you don’t necessarily feel too confident. Just practicing the body language itself will give you more confidence, because you take on a confident role. People around you will feel this secure energy and treat you as a confident person, which will further boost your self-esteem and confidence.

Say hello to a new, more confident version of yourself!
