8 Happiness Hacks

Calvin: Hey guys, what’s up? Calvin here from Young & Wildly Successful trying this again on the eight happiness hacks. It’s a message that needs to get out there, so we’ll keep filming this until it goes live properly. If you’re watching this you’ve already seen it before, welcome aboard once again. And if this is brand new for you, this is your first live feed with us, thank you so much for joining us. Hey, this is going to be the eight happiness hacks. I want you to share this with somebody as well that needs it. The reason why is I was explaining it before the connection died, the reason for this is so powerful. So many people in the world today struggle with this area of happiness. There’s not a lot of happiness in the world. We’re trying to increase that.

There’s more people becoming an awakening through this, but it’s very important that we’re spending our time, our days, our weeks and our month’s appreciation, in gratitude, in abundance, and in happiness for what we have and what we’re creating. Because what happens is if we don’t, then we have an epidemic that we have in the world today of young men, of young women and even of old men and old women and of people of all ages that are ending their lives because they just don’t see another option. I think there’s nothing more chronic. We live in a world of endless possibilities where everything is possible, and there’s so much that can be achieved and accomplished with people that just want to be able to make the best of things. But at times, when you feel like you’re down and out, there’s not a lot of hope. And so please share this with a young person, but share this with anybody that you think could boost from a little bit of happiness. Because that’s really what this is about.

So eight steps to happiness. Eight hacks to be able to create happiness rapidly in our lives and these are not going to solve the world’s problems, but what they are going to do is they’re going to be able to help you create a pathway for success and know that even if, when you’re feeling down, and it’s going to happen. I always believe in the quote and it’s a poem that says that “God gives his greatest challenges to his strongest warriors.” To those who are experiencing many challenges it’s because, and you may have followed me on Instagram @calvincoyles that the bow and arrow, in order for the arrow to fire it has to be pulled back. When life is pulling you back, understand that you’re about to release into something more powerful moving forward. Just understand that piece. So these hacks are designed to help you in the moments when we need them the most.

And so just introducing you to the team, we’ve got the beautiful Cherish Armstrong. This is Barry Hustle [SP]. This is what it looks like to run a six figure kid’s entertaining business in Bali lying on the beach. We’ve got Jess and Barra [SP] from Defined Nutrition follow him on Snapchat and Instagram. We’ve got impact-driven Julian Pace, with the one and only the real Kim Barrett, I should say, not just Kim Barrett, the real Kim Barrett…(audio skips)…here and I’ve been asking them what their hacks are as well. And that’s what we’re going to be sharing.

So let’s start. Number one is gratitude. We always start with gratitude. I want you to write down three people you’re grateful for in your life right now. I’m really grateful for this whole team so I’m going to name five right now. I’m grateful for Kim, I’m grateful for Julian, I’m grateful for Jason, I’m grateful for Cherish, and I’m grateful for Sue our team that’s going to be over here in Bali with us. Very excited about having them here. I’m grateful for this beautiful Balinese weather, in Bail in Canggu and the rain is bringing some healing to the land. And I’m grateful for the Balinese people, the staff here they’re just fantastic. It’s the Hindu New Year today so they’ve been going above and beyond for us. I’m grateful for all of these beautiful people.

I want you to comment and tag people below in this video that you’re really grateful for so we share this message of happiness. So please, like, comment and share and please subscribe so you get more of the notifications of future videos. We’re doing this until we hit a million views, and we’ll be doing it obviously, more than that, but that’s the idea.

So hack number one is focus on gratitude. Gratitude is the antidote to fear. What we want to do is we want to be highly grateful for the things that we have in our lives. We want to be in a position where our life if full of joy, of happiness. But the way to do that is to be grateful for what you already have. When you’re grateful for what you already have, you manifest more of an abundance of what you actually want. Beautiful, I’m getting rained on as we go down. When you’re grateful for what you already have you manifest more of the abundance of what you want. And so that’s really important that in order for you to create that abundance you’ve got to be grateful. So step number one is gratitude.

Step number two is a really beautiful one. This is a beautiful hack around happiness and it’s called music. Music makes our hearts sing, it’s the vehicle that allows us to move furthest, fastest, sorry, in our life. And to do that we want to play as much music as possible. And obviously different music for different times of our lives. But it’s very hard to feel bad after you’ve just finished at a club. It’s very hard to feel bad after you’ve just listened to some beautiful Bob Marley music; it’s very hard to feel bad when you’ve just got your groove on in the car singing as you’re moving forward. But music, dancing and singing great happiness hacks to be able to have more of those.

So we’ve got gratitude number one, we’ve also got as well music, and dancing number two, this beautiful weather is magnificent. The third happiness hack is appreciation. So gratitude is being grateful for the things that you have in your life. Appreciation is appreciating people and feeling a sense of appreciation for other people. If you feel like you’ve got appreciation for people, or even, let me say this, maybe eve appreciation for some of the challenges in your life. If you feel like you’re appreciative of the challenges and grateful for them, understand there’s a distinction between gratitude and appreciation. If you have a sense of appreciation for things and if you write down I’m appreciative of all in a daily ritual, writing down the five things you’re grateful for, writing down the five things that you appreciate in life, about the things that you’re looking forward to.

Understand that the fourth hack of happiness is a word called progress. In fact, it’s probably the most important sense of happiness. If you’re high achiever and you feel like you’re growing, then you feel like you’re making progress if like, then you feel like you are happy. Yeah, a lot of people they don’t grow, and therefore they die. And to our world that we live in today of this constant need to instantly manifest things, if you don’t feel like you’re growing, it’s like in this world at the moment if we have to run just to keep up at times. So having a sense of gratitude about where you are, having a sense of appreciation for who you are, having a sense of fun and dance and expression for music through dance, through movement of our bodies through our voice, that’s really important, so singing, dancing and dancing in the rain, and then feeling as though you’re making progress, incredibly valuable.

Let me just give you a simple example. In fact, one of my friends was telling me about this [inaudible 00:06:16], I’m not sure if he’s listening to this at the moment, but one of my mates, Corinne [SP], was telling me about this young guy, I think it might have even been Kim, I can’t remember who it was, but someone was telling me, and they said that these two young guys who just set up this company and it got bought I think, by Apple or Google or somebody like that, got bought out, and they received $40 million for this business. And they both ended up getting $20 million each.

So they just happened to be in Cuba, outside the United States when the settlement went through. One of the guys jumped on a plane, flew back to see his girlfriend, and celebrate in San Francisco, and the other guy went to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, to celebrate and killed himself. And the guy that went to Rio de Janeiro and killed himself, the reason why was because he didn’t think like he had anything left. He felt like he’d lost everything because he’d sold his business and he had all this money and there’s no reason why he should’ve committed suicide but he did. He did because he didn’t see any other option for himself and he didn’t see him having anything else going for himself. He’d lost his sense of significance; he didn’t feel like he was progressing any more. He’d grown and he’d lost it all. Imagine what that would be like.

The number one group of people in the world today that are committing suicide is principals. Has the highest rate. Principals male, principals that graduate, that leave their school, they retire, and most of them pass away. And they kill themselves. The reason why is because the fact that they have such a high level significance, they’re no longer growing anymore, they’re no longer contributing or serving, they’re retired, what else is there for them to do? And so really important, guys, that we have in our lives, a sense of progress. Because if you feel like you’re making progress, even if you’re horrendously overweight, even if you’re incredible in financial debt or difficulties, even if your relationship is on the brink of divorce, if you feel like you’re slowly making things better, even the tiniest little bits that we move towards things as goals, we feel like we’re moving towards something, we have passion. We have excitement. We have energy; we have just an incredible sense of abundance. The rain’s really coming down now, it’s beautiful here. So they’re really, really important.

So step one is we will have gratitude. Be grateful for the things in your life and have those part of your ritual. Step two, sing, dance and listen to music. Step three, be appreciative of who you are, and who you’re becoming. Step four, feel like you’re making progress each and every single day. Step five, make sure you’re working out and you’re eating well and you’re moving your body. A toxic body has toxic thoughts. A healthy body has healthy thoughts. Wow, this rain’s really kicking in. A heathy body has healthy thoughts, a toxic body has toxic thoughts. What we want to do is put ourselves in an environment of heath so that we think healthy, we feel healthy, and we do healthy. Really important. It’s very hard to feel happy in your life when you’re sick. So health and happiness is very important. That’s number five.

Number six, is making sure you do something every day that puts a smile on your face. And it might be just simply looking yourself in the mirror and cracking a crazy face. It might be listening to a funny YouTube video. Right, in fact, that’s going to be one of the hacks in and of itself. But you’re doing something every day that puts a smile on your face. Making sure that you’ve got things around you…was that burger healthy, Cherry [SP]? Yes it was heathy. It was very healthy. It was the healthiest burger that I’ll have. So you want to make sure you’re doing something every single day that puts a smile on your face. That’s number six.

Number seven, is you want to make sure you do something that puts a smile on somebody on else’s face. Give back. Contribute to somebody’s life every single day. There’s been times guys, when I’ve been out, like completely down and out, depressed, and then I found a way to give back. In fact, I remember just a couple of months ago I wanted to do something special for my little brother, I wasn’t able to make it happen in the way that I wanted to. I was feeling quite down about it, you can actually probably see the video on Facebook I recorded not long after this. So I decided that I was going take my other little brother, mom and dad are separated, my other little brother, on a fucking shopping spree, I think I spent $600 on Lego, and we went nuts. I was doing it for him, and I was doing it for me. So make sure you have a smile on your face. Number six, put a smile on somebody else’s face. Number seven.

And I’m going to ask each of the guys in the group right now what their number one thing is to finish this off, so it’s going to be a little bit more than eight, but let’s recap what we’ve done so far. Number one, be grateful. Number two, have a ritual of gratitude, because this is a hack, right? Have a ritual of gratitude. Number two, sing, dance, move your body every single day. Listen to music, that’s really important. Number three, feel a sense of appreciation for where you are in life and what you have. Number four, feel like you’re making progress and focus on the small wins that you’re having along the way. Number five, make sure that you move your body and you exercise, you eat healthy. Number six, make sure you do something every single day that puts a smile on your face. Number seven, make sure you put a smile on somebody else’s face. Give back to other people.

And now let me ask Kim Barrett, what’s your number one hack for happiness??

Guys, my number one hack for happiness to feel good about myself is to remember all of the incredible things that I’ve experienced and all of the incredible people I’ve experienced it with. I find it very easy to feel happy on the back end of those moments. So guys, here in Bali, torrential rain here. Hopefully you can hear me okay. I want to encourage you to live strong and live for passion. To make today and every day a phenomenal life-changing adventure. To find your happy as Julian Pace would say. Stay strong until the end, and remember to live life on your terms.
